Creating on Asterune
Last updated
Anyone can create on Asterune. Whether you want to build a sprawling open world, a quick party game, or avatar items for the community, this page introduces the tools and the path from idea to published game.
Asterune Studio
Games on Asterune are built in Asterune Studio, our creation tool for designing, scripting, and publishing experiences. In Studio you build your world, add game logic, configure features like voice chat, and test your game before releasing it to players.
You can download Asterune Studio and find full technical documentation β including scripting guides and the API reference β at the Developer Documentation.
Getting started
- Download Asterune Studio and sign in with your Asterune account
- Create a project from a template or a blank world
- Build and script your game β design the world, add mechanics, and configure options like voice chat from the Game Options page when your project is open
- Test your game inside Studio to make sure it plays the way you want
- Publish to make it available to players on Asterune
Once published, your game appears in the catalogue and can be found through the Games tab. You can keep updating it β changes you publish take effect for new sessions.
Configuring your game
Studio gives you control over how your game looks, plays, and communicates. For example, you can choose whether your game uses proximity or global voice chat and tune its settings from the Game Options page. The Developer Documentation covers the full range of options and the API for finer, programmatic control.
The rules apply to creators too
Everything you publish β games, assets, descriptions, thumbnails, and in-game content β must follow our Community Guidelines. A few essentials:
- Keep content appropriate for Asterune's general, all-ages audience
- Only use assets, art, music, and code you own or have permission to use β see Content ownership and Copyright and the DMCA
- Don't use your game to harass, mislead, or exploit players
Games and assets are subject to moderation, and content that breaks the rules can be removed. Serious or repeated violations can affect your ability to publish.
Earning from your work
Creating on Asterune can also be rewarding financially. There are several ways to earn Runes from your games and content β see Creator earnings for how that works, and the Developer Exchange for how eligible creators convert earned Runes into real-world payouts.
