Downloading Asterune

Games on Asterune run through the Asterune desktop client. You manage your account, browse games, and shop on the asterune.com website, then launch into games through the client. This page covers where to get it, which platforms are supported, and what your computer needs to run it.

Supported platforms

The Asterune client is available on:

  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux

There is no mobile app, and games are not played directly in a web browser — the desktop client is required to play. The website works in any modern browser for everything outside of gameplay, such as managing your account, buying Runes, and browsing the catalogue.

Downloading the client

  1. Go to asterune.com/download
  2. Your platform is detected automatically — select Download to get the right version, or choose a different platform from the list
  3. Run the installer and follow the prompts
  4. Sign in with your Asterune account

The first time you launch a game, the client may download additional files for that game. You'll be guided through this automatically.

Installing on Linux

On Linux, Asterune is distributed as a Flatpak. If your distribution has Flatpak and Flathub set up, you can install Asterune through your software centre or with Flatpak from the command line. Full instructions for Linux are on the download page.

System requirements

These are general minimums for the client itself. Individual games are made by different creators and may need more, depending on how demanding they are.

ComponentMinimum
Operating systemWindows 10/11, macOS 12+, or a modern 64-bit Linux
Memory (RAM)4 GB minimum, 8 GB or more recommended
StorageA few GB free, plus space for the games you install
GraphicsA GPU with up-to-date drivers
NetworkA stable broadband internet connection

A reliable internet connection is required — Asterune games are online experiences.

Keeping the client up to date

The client updates itself so you're always on a supported version with the latest security and performance fixes. On Linux, updates are delivered through Flatpak. We recommend keeping automatic updates enabled. An out-of-date client can cause games to fail to load or connect.

Using the client

Once you're in a game, press Escape or click the Asterune icon to open the client menu, where you can report, adjust voice chat, manage settings, and leave the game. See Voice chat for in-game audio controls.

Trouble installing or launching?

If the client won't install, won't launch, or a game won't load, see Troubleshooting for common fixes. If you're still stuck, contact Solarius support and let us know your operating system and what happens when you try.
