Deleting your account

If you no longer want to use Asterune, you can permanently delete your account from your settings. This page explains what happens when you delete your account, what you need to do beforehand, and what to expect during the deletion process.
Before you delete
Teams
If you own one or more Teams on Asterune, you must resolve each of them before your account can be deleted. For each Team you own, you have two options:
- Transfer ownership to another member of the Team
- Delete the Team entirely
To resolve a Team, go to the Team page and click the "Ownership" tab under the Team settings. If you have no other members in the Team, you will only have the option to delete it. If you have other members, you can choose to transfer ownership to one of them or delete the Team.
Your account deletion cannot proceed until all Teams you own have been transferred or deleted.
Runes and Luminary
Any unspent Runes and remaining Luminary subscription time on your account will be permanently forfeited when your account is deleted. If you have a Luminary subscription, we recommend cancelling it before initiating deletion to avoid being charged for a renewal after your account is gone. You can cancel from Settings → Billing.
If you believe you are eligible for a refund on a recent Rune purchase or subscription renewal, submit that request before deleting your account. See our Refunds page for details.
How to delete your account
- Go to Settings → Delete Account
- Review the information on the page, including what will be permanently deleted
- Resolve any outstanding Team ownership requirements if prompted
- Confirm your password and submit the deletion request
Once submitted, your account will enter a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion.
The 30-day grace period
After submitting your deletion request, your account is not immediately deleted. It enters a 30-day grace period during which:
- Your account is deactivated but not yet deleted
- You can cancel the deletion at any time by logging back in and following the prompt to restore your account
- You will not be able to use Asterune normally during this period
If you do not cancel within 30 days, your account and all associated data will be permanently and irreversibly deleted. This includes your profile, avatar, uploaded content, messages, game data, Rune balance, and any other account data.
Data retention after deletion
In most cases, all of your personal data is deleted within 30 days of the grace period ending. However, certain data may be retained beyond this point where we are legally required to do so — for example:
- Transaction records are retained for 7 years under Dutch tax and accounting law
- Hardware identifiers associated with a permanent ban may be retained for up to 5 years to prevent ban evasion
- Other data where retention is required by applicable law or to resolve an outstanding legal matter
Where data is retained for legal reasons, it is used only for that purpose and is not accessible through your account. For full details on how long we keep different types of data, see our Privacy Policy.
